Youth Volunteer Coordinator — Summer Daze Camp 2020
The Youth Volunteer Coordinator will report to a designated representative of the Trout Lake Community Centre Association and will work with the Grant Project Manager and day camp leaders. The Youth Volunteer Coordinator will collaborate with staff to organize, recruit and schedule youth volunteers.
Responsibilities
 Update volunteer handbook and training materials
 Organize and facilitate a volunteer orientation session
 Prepare weekly volunteer schedules, individual schedules and nametags for volunteers
 Assist with preparing weekly documents including attendance lists and sign-in sheets
 The Youth Volunteer Coordinator will evaluate the effectiveness of the volunteer leadership program
 The Youth Volunteer Coordinator may perform administrative duties requested for youth program statistics with the support of the Community Youth Worker (Youth Programmer)
Qualifications
 Previous experience coordinating children or youth programs
 Ability to relate to children and teens
 Effective written and verbal communication skills
 Well organized with attention to detail
 Ability to work independently and with a small team and to exercise initiative
 Approachable and flexible with an eagerness to learn
 Ability to work with a variety of personalities
 Demonstrated high levels of initiative and resourcefulness
 Fluency in another language besides English an asset
Necessary Conditions for Consideration
 Employment is subject to successful clearance of Police Record Check including vulnerable sectors search
 Must be a Canadian Citizen
 Between the ages of 15-30 years old
 Current Emergency First Aid certification
Terms /Conditions of Employment
 $16.00 per hour + 4% vacation pay
 35–40 hours per week, Monday to Friday, 8:30–4:30 pm
 June 22– September 4, 2020; may vary slightly in accordance with operations. Additional mandatory training dates in early June TBA
 Dependent upon funding from Human Resources and Social Development (Government of Canada)
