Team Leader One — Summer Day Camp 2020
The Team Leader One will report to a designated representative of the Trout Lake Community Centre Association and will work with the Grant Project Manager and Team Leader Two(s). The Team Leader One will collaborate with staff and volunteers to organize and deliver day camp programs.
Responsibilities
 Responsible for the safety, leadership and supervision of children 6-13 years old, volunteers and staff in a variety of activities
 With other staff members, plan and organize the summer activities
 Assist in planning, organizing and leading children in out-trips, sports, games, arts, crafts, music and educational activities
 Manage behaviour of children using teaching, encouragement, natural and logical consequence methods
 Assist with program promotions
 Maintain good communication with parents, children, co-workers and volunteers
 Respond to first aid needs and unusual incidents
 Clean up and secure the room leaving it presentable for evening programs/community groups
 Perform basic administrative tasks such as attendance checks and writing progress reports
Qualifications
 Previous experience working in a day camp setting
 Excellent organizational, supervisory and interpersonal and communications skills
 Diverse knowledge of activities and outings suitable for children 6-13 year olds
 Ability to work well with children
 Demonstrated ability to deal with emergencies, unusual incidents and behavioural challenges
 Ability to work independently and as a team player
 Demonstrated high levels of initiative and resourcefulness
 Current Emergency First Aid certification
 Fluency in another language besides English is an asset
Necessary Conditions for Consideration
 Employment is subject to successful clearance of Police Record Check including vulnerable sectors search
 Must be a Canadian Citizen
 Between the ages of 15–30 years old
Terms /Conditions of Employment
 $15.00 per hour + 4% vacation pay
 35–40 hours per week, Monday to Friday, 8:00–5:00 pm
 June 15–Sept 4, 2020; may vary slightly in accordance with operations. Additional mandatory training dates in early June TBA
 Dependent upon funding from Human Resources and Social Development (Government of Canada)
