Vancouver Youth Week

Youth Week is May 1-7, 2012. Here are just a few of the awesome events that are taking place around Vancouver! For even more, be sure to check out the Vancouver Youth Week and National Youth Arts Week websites.

From May 2-4, catch a performance of "Cleverly Painted Rocks" at Roundhouse Community Centre. This collaborative play is written and performed by youth in Vancouver.

On Friday, May 4, check out the finals for VanCity Idol at VanTech Secondary. This showcase of Vancouver's singing talent is brought to you by the Vancouver District Students' Council.

Friday, May 4 is also Gab Youth's annual Caffeinated Queer Youth Cabaret, for queer and trans youth and their allies, at the Rhizome Cafe.

On Saturday, May 5, Creekside Community Centre will be the place to be. Vancouver Park Board youth workers will be hosting the following events with their community partners:
Dragonboat Regatta 8:00 AM
Racing Around the World 12:00 PM
Band Performances 1:00 PM
Night Hoops Basketball 1:00 PM
Ignite! Festival Sneak-Peak Performances 2:00 PM
Breakdancing 2:00 PM

From 1-4 on Saturday, May 5, take your skateboard to the Downtown Skateboard Plaza under the Georgia Viaduct to go for a run, check out skateboard demos and win prizes.

Also on Saturday, May 5, check out Dialogues Youth Vancouver's Dialogues Youth Session. Connect with Vancouver's First Nations, Urban Aboriginal and immigrant communities to demystify stereotypes, celebrate differences and find shared interests.

On Sunday, May 6, attend "Connecting.The.Dots", the closing celebration for National Youth Arts Week, at the Roundhouse Community Centre.

Youth week is about acknowledging and celebrating youth in Vancouver. So get out and have some fun!
