The City of Vancouver has a number of volunteer opportunities for people to serve on advisory bodies, committees and agencies. People of all ages are encouraged to volunteer.
These bodies represent a great opportunity for young people in Vancouver to get involved by:
- Serving the community and making Vancouver better
- Sharing expertise and ideas with Council, City departments and the public
- Gaining leadership skills, knowledge and experience
- Connecting to decision-makers and the broader community
The deadline to apply is January 22. If you are interested and able to commit the time required, apply online to be a member.
Agencies looking for volunteers include:
- Active Transportation Advisory Committee
- Chinatown Historic Area Planning Committee (Note: only one at-large position available)
- Development Permit Board Advisory Panel (Special note: at least one member must be someone who "represents young people in the community")
- First Shaughnessy Advisory Design Panel (Note: must be part of First Shaughnessy District)
- Gastown Historic Area Planning Committee (Note: must be member of Gastown Community)
- LGBTQ Advisory Committee
- Multicultural Advisory Committee
- Persons with Disabilities Advisory Committee
- Public Art Committee
- Seniors Advisory Committee
- Urban Aboriginal Peoples Advisory Committee
- Urban Design Panel (Note: restricted membership with no at-large openings)
- Vancouver City Planning Commission
- Vancouver Civic Theatres Board
- Vancouver Food Policy Council
- Vancouver Heritage Commission
- Womens Advisory Committee
