citizenU youth-led projects address racism, discrimination and bullying; and build community across cultures, faiths and generations. From film and video projects to festivals and events to programs and workshops, citizenU youth participants engage with their community, develop leadership skills and bring people together to support a stronger and more inclusive Vancouver.
Each citizenU youth cohort takes part in workshops to form groups and develop project ideas. The only requirements placed on projects are that they support the goals of the citizenU program, are led by youth and take place in Vancouver. Seed funding is made available through the program to support projects, and the entire cohort of youth works together to allocate funds to make projects happen.
