125th Anniversary Grants Program – Public Information Sessions

Cultural Services is pleased to announce several public information sessions about the City’s 125th anniversary plans in 2011 and its 125th Anniversary Grants Program.

,p>The 125th Anniversary Grants Program supports the growing excitement, pride and enthusiasm for Vancouver's upcoming 125th anniversary in 2011. This program is a time-limited opportunity intended to foster awareness and understanding of Vancouver’s identities, first nations’ heritage and cultural diversity. This program will support activities that enrich our society through civic engagement and the celebration of art, culture and heritage. The second (and final) intake of the program will be in January/February 2011.

Community members are invited to attend any one of the four sessions that will be held at the following locations, dates and times:

  • Tuesday September 7, 2010 from 6:00 – 7:30pm
    Sunset Community Centre, 6810 Main Street

  • Thursday September 9, 2010 from 6:00 – 7:30pm
    Vancouver Aboriginal Friendship Centre
    (1607 East Hastings Street)

  • Monday September 13, 2010 from 6:00 – 7:30pm
    Progress Lab, 1422 William Street

  • Wednesday September 15, 2010 from 6:00 – 7:30pm
    St Paul's Anglican Church, 1130 Jervis Street

    Potential applicants are encouraged to contact a Cultural Planner at (604) 829-2007 before filling in or submitting an application form to ensure their project is eligible.

    Application forms and program guidelines are now available to download from the Cultural Services website for the upcoming October 1, 2010 deadline.

    Have your say on Hastings Park/PNE...

    The City is currently undertaking a Master Plan and consultation process to guide the long-range redevelopment of Hastings Park. In 2009, the City asked the public for their feedback on the main ideas of the Master Plan. Now, City planners are back with more details and want further comments from you. Join the City at one of the following open houses to share your thoughts: Saturday, August 28 from 10 am to 4 pm at the Kerrisdale Days tent in front of CIBC, 41st Avenue at Vine Street; Sunday, August 29 and Friday, September 3 to Monday, September 6 from 11 am to 11 pm at Pacific National Exhibition (PNE) tent in front of the Pacific Coliseum.
